Tom Cleverly was loaned to Aston Villa for one season from Manchester United. Some say it’s because, United already have too many first class midfielders and Tom couldn’t meet the coach’s expectations. So he was loaned out of the team so he won’t miss playing.
Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert however is quite impressed by the midfielder and he told the media he wants Tom to stay at Villa Park. It implies that Aston Villa might look to sign him permanently and keep him on Villa for a longer period.
Tom Cleverly has made 5 appearances so far after moving to Villa Park and even in this he made quite a positive impression on Villa manager. That’s why Lambert admits that cleverly can stay at Villa longer.
“We have an option on Tom. We have not gone into great detail but he has played well. He was the one lad who was busy on Saturday, he has so much to offer,” said Lambert.
“He’s a good guy, a good pro and he does everything at a high tempo even when he trains. Whatever happens in January will happen, the option is there but we still have a couple of months to go.” said the manager of Aston Villa, Lambert.
Tom Cleverly accepts that his career at Manchester united is over and he claims that he is enjoying his stay at Villa Park. According to him, the manager understands him and thus he has grown fond of Aston Villa in very short time.
He said to the media –
“I am happy to get away from some of the negativity. Whenever you are not winning trophies at Man United the players are going to get some stick.”
Although his word have some truth and winning trophies isn’t that big deal in Aston Villa but it can not be denied that he is playing better at Villa and he most probably will stay at Villa for longer period if United lets go of him. We hope the best for him.
