First World Cup century for Pakistan in World Cup Cricket – 2015

scoring Centuries has become a play thing for players in this world cup. Kumar Sangakara got 4 back to back centuries and created history, Taylor (Zimbabwe) and Mahmudullah (Bangladesh) each got 2 back to back century and had their names in the list, Gayle got a double century, Dhawan have 2 centuries as well as Villiers and Dilshan. Even Scotland team got a big 150+ scorer in their team. But, even though Pakistan is one of the best teams of this world cup, they were without any centuries till the last last match of group stage. It was a poor reflection of their batting which have been struggling the entire tournament. its not like they did not get close. They got quite a few 70+ scores and they even have one 90+ score in the list but for some reason they could not touch the 3 digit in this world cup. Finally, on the very last match of World Cup Group stage, they got to touched the 3 digit and the player who got that is Sarfraz Ahmed.

You didn’t hear me wrong. Its Sarfraz Ahmed. The man who was not sure to play in this world cup. To put things bluntly, he was lucky to be in the team but look at his performance in last 2 matches that he played. He missed his 50 in the last match while he got out on 49 run. But this time he did not miss his 100. he was close at 97 and there was a chance that he might no0t get to his 100 but he managed to get it just fine.

This brilliant innings from Sarfraz Ahmed included only 6 boundaries which shows how hard he worked for this century taking the one’s and two’s. He took 124 balls to get there and it was on a strike rate of 81.45 from the Pakistani opener. it took him 200 minutes in the field to achieve that. Most of his run came from ON side although his scoring rate almost equal on both sides. in the end it was a great hard earned century and Sarfraz Ahmed deserced this for his efforts in this match.
